About Public Service Association, R.O.C.

The "Public Service Association, R.O.C.", formerly known as the "Taichung National Salvation Youth League Central District Holiday Service Team" provides youth with self-improvement, participation, as well as leadership activities and training with the attitude of "The National Salvation Corps serves the youth while the youth serves the country." The association also unites friendships between the youth.
Since the association's establishment, there have been dozens of volunteers every year until it was closed in the twelfth session. A total of 202 official volunteers were certified. Many of our old friends in the association later become excellent talents in various fields including doctors, professors, entrepreneurs, chairman, general manager, business managers, bosses…etc. During mid-September, 1997, the 25th anniversary of the association, our old friends gathered together once again and were reminded of the unforgettable experiences in the past and the emotion of sharing joys and sorrows. Therefore, Mr.沈漢鏜 brought up the idea of organizing a new association. We established Mr. Geroge Kao as the preparatory chairman and experienced many meetings. In October 1998, the Ministry of the Interior approved of our preparations. In March 1999, a meeting was held. More than 60 members participated. After another approval of the Ministry of the Interior in June, the association was officially established. On October 18, 2012, the "Malonglong Volunteer Team" was approved to be established as well.
Fulfilling the concept of our association, our volunteers then founded the winter and summer vacation camps, the "Discover Ruiyan Tribe" event assisting the rural area, the charity concerts, etc.

Information of "Discover the Ruiyan Tribe" event

The Ruiyan tribe is located in Faxiang Village, Renai Township, Nantou County. The birthplace of the Atayal or Sky tribe. Its beautiful mountain scenery, lovely people, and diverse creations are just some of the many great things regarding the Ruiyan Tribe.
In April 2015, we arranged an appointment with the tribe to share various unique skills (baking, hand made soap, playing percussion instruments, playing the ukulele, creative painting, creative balloon making, etc.) along with the tribe on the mountain during the last week of the bimonthly. Although we aren’t the best of the best, everyone enjoys their weekend afternoon through hands-on learning and sharing experiences with the Ruiyan tribe. As night falls, we’ll meet along with the tribe at a campfire and experience the authentic tribal life. Listening to the elders tell their stories and the legends of their hunters. In late autumn, we’ll also head to Hongxiang Hot Spring to reward ourselves by refreshing our body and mind with the bright stars in the sky. Before going down the mountain the next day, we’ll also assist and experience along with the farmers in farming. We’ll also assist in necessary tribal visitation services.
